A LEGACY
OF TRUE
SUSTAINABILITY

IT’S IN OUR DNA

As the U.S. operation of the renowned Iris Ceramica Group, Stonepeak is deeply rooted in a legacy of sustainability. Our journey begins with the visionary founder, Romano Minozzi, who coined the term “Economy = Ecology” in the 1960s. This powerful concept encapsulates his vision of an economy that serves both humanity and the environment we inhabit.

Inheriting this profound philosophy, Stonepeak has always had sustainability woven into its DNA. Our commitment extends beyond mere words; it is reflected in every aspect of our business.

CARBON FOOTPRINT

Stonepeak has achieved the prestigious Organizational Carbon Footprint Validation ISO 14064-1, positioning itself among the first companies in the U.S. flooring industry to earn this distinction.

Organizational Carbon Footprint Validation ISO 14064-1, developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), is a globally recognized standard that provides a comprehensive framework for measuring, monitoring, and verifying greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across the entire U.S. operational cycle.

This milestone reinforces Stonepeak’s leadership in sustainability and underscores its unwavering commitment to voluntary transparency, environmental responsibility and the integration of sustainable practices across all facets of its operations.

SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES

Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Crossville, TN also operates with sustainability at its core. Key practices include:

  • A nearly closed-loop process where raw materials and water waste are efficiently recycled back into production.
  • An innovative formula that utilizes mostly raw materials found in the U.S., with a vast majority being sourced within 250 miles from our manufacturing plant in Crossville, TN.
  • Antipollution devices installed, exceeding legal requirements by incorporating smoke and sand depurators, water purifiers, and reutilization of heat from kilns and production losses.
  • Packaging using recycled materials.

CERTIFICATIONS & MEMBERSHIPS

At Stonepeak, we are proud to have achieved numerous green certifications, demonstrating our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. These certifications acknowledge that we practice what we preach by implementing eco-friendly practices and procedures including, but not limited to, sustainable building materials, actively reducing our carbon footprint, managing greenhouse gas emissions, and improving energy efficiency.

Stonepeak DECLARE certificate

Declare® is a platform through which manufacturers can voluntarily disclose information on their products in a way that technical information becomes useful for everyone. As for example composition, places for the final assembly, lifespan, end-of-life options and general conformity to the Living Building Challenge® criteria. This achievement testifies that our materials are ‘Red List Free’ as they don’t contain the noxious chemicals to human health and the ecosystem.

ISO 14064-1 is an international standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) that provides a framework for measuring, reporting, and verifying greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. It is part of the broader ISO 14000 family of environmental management standards and is designed to support sustainability efforts across various industries.

The ISO 9001 certification covers the entire business management, from research and development to production, from distribution to customer service. This scheme certifies that the Company has implemented a business quality control system, recognized by an International Quality System.

The Green Squared certificate is a sustainability certification for tiles and tile installation materials, developed by the Tile Council of North America (TCNA). It ensures products meet the rigorous sustainability criteria of the ANSI A138.1 standard, covering aspects like product characteristics, manufacturing, and end-of-life management.

The GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certification is a program that certifies products for low chemical emissions, helping to improve indoor air quality. This certification is particularly important because many everyday products release volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the air, which can cause health issues like headaches, dizziness, and long-term diseases.

Leed Certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is one of the most popular green building certification programs used worldwide, being recognized and active in more than 40 countries. It includes the evaluation and certification of the environmental, social and economic sustainability using a set of rating systems for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of green buildings, homes, and neighborhoods.

According to LEED classification criteria, building materials with high Eco-sustainability contribute to obtaining credits by raising the building’s score. LEED certifies that all the slabs contain a percentage of recycled material over 40% according to ISO 14021, thus guaranteeing the highest scores according to the LEED system that aims to help building owners and operators to be environmentally responsible and to use the resources available in a very effective way.

The Greenguard Gold Certification ensures that products intended for indoor use are characterized by practically non-existent emissions of volatile substances, contributing to the creation of healthier environments. Greenguard Gold Certification considers safety factors essential to guarantee the best quality for sensitive individuals (such as children and the elderly), and ensures that a product is acceptable for use in environments such as schools and health care facilities. This certification is widely recognized and accepted by sustainable building projects and housing regulations worldwide. In the United States, it is referenced by The Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) and the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) building rating systems.
