A LEGACY
OF TRUE
SUSTAINABILITY

IT’S IN OUR DNA

As the U.S. operation of the renowned Iris Ceramica Group, Stonepeak is deeply rooted in a legacy of sustainability. Our journey begins with the visionary founder, Romano Minozzi, who coined the term “Economy = Ecology” in the 1960s. This powerful concept encapsulates his vision of an economy that serves both humanity and the environment we inhabit.

Inheriting this profound philosophy, Stonepeak has always had sustainability woven into its DNA. Our commitment extends beyond mere words; it is reflected in every aspect of our business.

SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES

Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Crossville, TN also operates with sustainability at its core. Key practices include:

  • A nearly closed-loop process where raw materials and water waste are efficiently recycled back into production.
  • An innovative formula that utilizes mostly raw materials found in the U.S., with a vast majority being sourced within 250 miles from our manufacturing plant in Crossville, TN.
  • Antipollution devices installed, exceeding legal requirements by incorporating smoke and sand depurators, water purifiers, and reutilization of heat from kilns and production losses.
  • Packaging using recycled materials.

CERTIFICATIONS & MEMBERSHIPS

At Stonepeak, we are proud to hold a wide range of certifications and memberships that reflect our commitment to excellence across sustainability, quality, and industry leadership. From green certifications that recognize our environmentally responsible practices to quality standards that ensure product performance and reliability, each mark represents our dedication to doing things the right way—for our customers, our partners, and the planet.

Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)

An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a document that transparently communicates the environmental performance or impact of a product over its lifetime. EPDs are required by many purchasing organizations, green building standards, and federal procurement standards. EPDs make it possible to compare the impacts of different materials and products in order to select the less impactful option.

Health Product Declaration

A Health Product Declaration (HPD) is a standardized report that discloses the chemical ingredients and potential health-related information of building products, helping designers, builders, and owners make informed decisions for healthier spaces and meet green building standards like LEED. Developed by the HPD Collaborative, HPDs provide transparency by listing product contents and flagging hazards against recognized lists, promoting safer materials in construction.

Organizational Carbon Footprint Validation ISO 14064-1

ISO 14064-1 is an international standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) that provides a framework for measuring, reporting, and verifying greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across the entire operational cycle. It is part of the broader ISO 14000 family of environmental management standards and is designed to support sustainability efforts across various industries.

Declare

Declare® is a platform through which manufacturers can voluntarily disclose information on their products in a way that technical information becomes useful for everyone. As for example composition, places for the final assembly, lifespan, end-of-life options and general conformity to the Living Building Challenge® criteria. This achievement testifies that our materials are ‘Red List Free’ as they don’t contain the noxious chemicals to human health and the ecosystem.

Quality Management System Certificate

ISO 9001 is a globally recognized standard for quality management helping organizations of all sizes and sectors to improve their performance, meet customer expectations and demonstrate their commitment to quality. Its requirements define how to establish, implement, maintain, and continually improve a quality management system (QMS). Implementing ISO 9001 means your organization has put in place effective processes and trained staff to deliver flawless products or services time after time.

Green Squared Certificate

The Green Squared certificate is a sustainability certification for tiles and tile installation materials, developed by the Tile Council of North America (TCNA). It uses the transparency and consensus of the ANSI process combined with third party certification to evaluate, validate, and communicate products which have a positive impact on the environment and society, covering aspects like product characteristics, manufacturing, and end-of-life management.

U.S. Green Building Council Member

The U.S. Green Building Council is a non-profit organization that promotes sustainability in the design, construction, and operation of buildings and communities. Members of the USGBC are at the forefront of green building innovations, showcasing their commitment to eco-conscious markets and leading the future of green building by driving impactful change, advocating for LEED, advancing decarbonization efforts, and more.

GREENGUARD Gold

The Greenguard Gold Certification ensures that products intended for indoor use are characterized by practically non-existent emissions of volatile substances, contributing to the creation of healthier environments. Greenguard Gold Certification considers safety factors essential to guarantee the best quality for sensitive individuals (such as children and the elderly), and ensures that a product is acceptable for use in environments such as schools and health care facilities. This certification is widely recognized and accepted by sustainable building projects and housing regulations worldwide. In the United States, it is referenced by The Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) and the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) building rating systems.

Buy American Act (BAA)

The Buy American Act (BAA) is a U.S. law requiring the federal government to give preference to domestically produced goods and materials for public use, aiming to support American manufacturing and jobs by favoring U.S.-made products in government purchases unless exceptions apply. It mandates that end products must be manufactured in the U.S., with a significant portion (over 65%) of their components also made domestically.

Build America, Buy America (BABA)

The Build America, Buy America Act (BABA) is part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), requiring that all manufactured products and construction materials used in federally funded infrastructure projects are produced in the United States. Designed to strengthen American supply chains, support jobs, and maximize the use of domestic products, it mandates that all manufacturing processes for these materials occur within the U.S. to ensure taxpayer-funded projects support domestic manufacturing.
